Who is this for?
The 1-Day Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course is specifically designed for individuals working in low-risk environments such as offices, shops, and small corporate settings. It is the minimum training requirement identified by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) for most businesses to meet their basic first aid obligations.
If your workplace risk assessment indicates a higher-risk environment (e.g., construction, manufacturing) or you have a large workforce, you will likely need the comprehensive 3-Day First Aid at Work course instead.
What You Will Learn
This hands-on course equips you with the fundamental skills to step forward and preserve life until emergency services arrive. The syllabus covers:
- Understanding the role of a first aider
- Assessing an incident and the casualty
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Managing an unresponsive casualty (Recovery Position)
- Choking in adults
- Seizures and epilepsy management
- Controlling severe external bleeding and shock
Accreditation & Assessment
Continuous Assessment
There are no stressful written exams. Your instructor will continuously assess your practical skills throughout the day. You just need to actively participate and demonstrate the techniques.
Valid for 3 Years
Upon successful completion, you will be awarded the Ofqual-recognised Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work. This certificate is valid for 3 years, fulfilling your HSE workplace requirements.
